Asset Recovery Assessment
Insurance and Manufacturing
Sana'a, Yemen
Research
Challenge
A manufacturing company had filed a insurance claim for an act of employee sabotage to its manufacturing lines. Due to the conflict in Yemen, underwriters lacked the ability to safely assess the veracity of the insured's claim. Before determining whether the claim should be paid, the client sought to engage a local firm to perform a site visit.
Solution
A team of local Madison Springfield consultants visited the site to assess and photograph the damage. In addition, company employees were interviewed about the incident. Lastly, social media data and commercially available satellite imagery were synthesized with the information collected during the site visits and interviews to develop a detailed understanding of the events surrounding the incident.
Result
Previously, underwriters would have had no choice but to pay similar claims because they lacked qualified recovery agents that could visit insured sites in conflict zones. The insights provided by the Madison Springfield team enabled the client to assess all of the relevant facts before determining whether the claim was valid.
