Strategy
Challenge
A European professional services firm discovered that the demand for their traditional business offerings was dwindling and they needed to identify new growth areas to sustain competitive advantage in a highly-competitive marketplace. Given their relative market position, an expansion into certain emerging markets appeared to be a suitable course of action. However, the firm lacked the wherewithal required to navigate the unique challenges in developing countries.
Solution
The project began with an inventory of the skills and abilities among the firm's consultant ranks. Market research was then performed to determine where the firm's capabilities could be applied supporting companies operating in rapidly growing emerging markets. From an initial list of promising countries where demand was high for professional services firms offering similar services as those of the client, one country was selected as a pilot venture. Following Madison Springfield's recommendation, the client established a business presence in the target country using expatriates managing a small team of local consultants.
Result
The client drew from lessons learned from a highly successful pilot project in a Middle Eastern country, and began expanding operations into similar regional markets. Ultimately, the firm's Middle East revenues exceeded those of its European operations. The firm successfully repositioned itself as a market leader in the professional services sector in the Middle East.

Solutions
Challenge
A global consumer products company was seeking to optimize its global supply chain. Perceived inefficiencies were impacting delivery lead times, working capital obligations, and quality control. To eliminate these issues, the company first needs to assess those key nodes in its global supply chain.
Solution
At multiple manufacturing sites located in Europe and the US, Madison Springfield consultants performed a baseline supply chain assessment of the client processes in the areas of manufacturing, distribution, inventory management and sourcing. The team then benchmarked the client's performance in each of these areas against industry best practice to identify gaps. These gaps were then analyzed and courses of action were developed to eliminate these gaps.
Result
The elimination of the identified performance gaps resulted in significant performance improvements across the supply chain and capital savings through reductions in work-in-process inventory. These enhancements enabled the client to leverage its supply chain as a competitive advantage.
