Solutions
Challenge
The increasingly high freight costs of shipping finished goods from Asia forced a durable goods manufacturer to consider shifting some its manufacturing to Mexico. Having no previous manufacturing experience in Mexico, the company lacked the local knowledge necessary to select a suitable location.
Solution
A Madison Springfield team with manufacturing, logistics and local real estate expertise was assembled to identify suitable locations for the client’s manufacturing operations. The locations were assessed for their proximity to key logistics hubs, skilled labor, and other capital inputs.
Result
Over 20 locations were assessed against the client requirements with each location ranked according to how well it supported the client requirements. Once a final location was accepted by the client, the project team provided real estate, logistics and legal expertise to ensure that the client’s interests were supported throughout the transaction and subsequent commencement of operations.

Strategy
Challenge
The client sought to understand the nature of the threats to security and stability throughout the Caribbean region and determine how best to confront these threats. To properly evaluate the range of stability threats, primary qualitative and quantitative research data was required to provide insight into the perceptions, attitudes and behavioral impacts of threats such illegal immigration, narcotics trafficking and other illicit activities.
Solution
This project utilized a multi-stage, mixed methods qualitative and quantitative design. The methodology follows a rigorous and planned approach to conducting audience research with a focus on designing effective and measurable recommendations.
Result
The project revealed the key threats to stability in the region, prevailing attitudes and perceptions towards these threats in Mexico, and specific courses of action the client could take to mitigate these threats. These data-insights informed client planning and resource allocation resulting in the successful implementation of an effective risk mitigation plan.
