Price Discovery of Local Project Prices
Pharmaceutical
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Research
Challenge
A multinational pharmaceutical company wanted to track both the pricing of its products and counterfeit products in rural and urban markets in multiple South Asian countries. As a majority of product sales occurred outside their distributor network (secondary sales) and due to the high incidence of counterfeit products, the client was unable to determine whether their pricing had been properly set.
Solution
Local research teams were assigned to conduct a six-month longitudinal study on both genuine product and counterfeit product pricing in 20 locations in four countries. These teams were comprised of trained host-country nationals.
Result
The data revealed a significant delta between the client’s pricing and the pricing the market would bear, resulting in a change in the client's pricing strategy. The research and supporting analysis provided the client with a detailed understanding of both the secondary markets and counterfeit products and provided the basis for the data-driven revision of the client's pricing strategy. The revised pricing strategy resulted in an increase in sales and market share.

Research
Challenge
The client sought to conduct a baseline assessment of stability conditions in multiple countries across Southeast Asia. The assessment required the collection and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data in parallel from more than 20 locations on a range of economic, development and social factors.
Solution
A team of Madison Springfield senior analysts with expertise in the region developed a framework of indicators that would be collected during the primary research phase. Madison Springfield then assembled a multinational team of more than 100 local researchers from each of the locations to be surveyed to perform the data collection. Once the data was collected, Madison Springfield analyst presented the client with a framework that would be collected against at quarterly intervals to stability trends in the region.
Result
Previous client attempts are developing a cross-national assessment framework had met with limited success due to the client's inability to specify the indicators most relevant for tracking stability. The framework developed by experienced Madison Springfield analysts and populated by indigenous research teams provided the client with the visibility it needed in order to forecast development trends for the region.
