A multinational energy company filed a claim with underwriters for contract frustration. The client, a global underwriter of political risk insurance, sought to investigate the causes of the contract frustration and determine possible remedial courses of action.

Solution

A team of local researchers supported by industry analysts was engaged to investigate a range of issues. To begin,  Madison Springfield conducted an industry and geopolitical assessment to identify the issues impacting the energy industry in Ecuador. Concurrently, local researchers conducted interviews with industry experts and company employees to ascertain the contract-specific issues.
